Mini Shuffleboard Pucks
Puck Weights:
Generally, heavier pucks allow better placement control,
but require the player to read the playfield better, as changes in surface
slickness have greater effects on heavy pucks. Mini-pucks are normally only used
in qualifiers or for small children.
Puck Shapes: The bottom of the pucks should be
an extremely flattened cone shape. Not quite flat, but not pointed like a top.
If the puck is placed on a smooth surface, it should balance on this nub and not
lean to one side. Cheap pucks are flat on the bottom with a rough surface and
can move erratically once they begin to slow down.
Puck Caps: Puck Caps are simply a decoration and
a way to tell who's pucks are who's. Almost all pucks use the same kind of screw
down caps, and the same sizes. For example, a medium puck cap will fit almost
all medium pucks. Mini-pucks are proprietary, and use widely varying cap styles,
often not available separately.
Coatings: Almost all pucks are high-polish solid
stainless steal or chrome plated. The stainless pucks tend to last longer, but
chrome plated pucks are more common. Cheap pucks will use poor chrome plating
processes that will allow the chrome to chip or peal over time. Good pucks
should last a lot of games without problems with the chrome.
Imperfections: All pucks are shipped out to you in the best possible
condition. However, there are some pucks that may have slight imperfections on
the bottom, smooth surface. We will not send you out pucks that will not play
GREAT. These imperfections are natural and will usually not affect your tables
play whatsoever. |
